Are they right?
I don't believe they are. In fact, I believe the Old Testament shows just the opposite and displays a God who loves, warns, and eventually carries out justice on those societies who disregard what is morally right.
To help support my position, I've written a paper that you can read on the Christian Apologetics Research Ministries (CARM) site, and also put it into presentation format below. For a deeper treatment of the paper, you can obtain a copy of Paul Copan's book that covers the subject in much more detail.

"If you created yourself then you must have existed prior to you creating yourself, but that simply can't be." (http://www.confidentchristians.org)
I pose one question for you. What created God?
lawlcopter - thanks for writing. The answer is nothing created God. God is uncreated, unmade. You don't create the uncreated; He is eternal. Only things that begin to exist need a cause, and God has no beginning.
Your question is what's called a category mistake, similar to asking "Where is the bachelor's wife?" or "What does the color blue smell like?"
Some people laugh at the idea that nothing created God, yet every atheist I know believes in an uncreated, eternal universe (for which there is no evidence). The fact is, you must go back to something eternal and uncreated, and God makes the most reasonable sense.
Thanks again.
